2026 Riverland Trebbiano
This 2026 Riverland Trebbiano began as a bit of an experiment and evolved into something I never quite expected.
The wine spent time on skins before an extended period on lees, building texture and savoury complexity while retaining its freshness. Along the way, it continued to change and develop, revealing bright citrus, yellow apple and tropical fruit, with notes of ripe papaya, alongside subtle savoury and nutty characters.
Textural yet bright, the palate has plenty of freshness and acidity, balanced by a gently mineral finish and a savoury depth that continues to unfold in the glass.
This is a wine that rewards taking your time with it. As it warms and opens in the glass, different characters begin to emerge, making each pour part of the experience.
With only 50 bottles made, this is a genuinely small release and a snapshot of a winemaking adventure.
Inspired by Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now, this wine reflects my journey into winemaking and the determination it has taken to build Midnight Sounds.
Starting a wine business has come with its share of hurdles, unexpected challenges and moments where giving up would have been the easier option. But through all of it, my passion for making wine has continued to outweigh the obstacles.
This Trebbiano became a little reflection of that journey. What started as an experiment continued to evolve, change and surprise me along the way. Rather than trying to force it into something it was not, I allowed the wine to develop its own character and embraced where it took me.
For me, this wine is about persistence, curiosity and continuing to move forward, no matter what gets thrown your way.
This is my first white wine, and it has been quite an adventure.
It is a little different from what I first imagined, and that is part of what makes it special. It changed throughout its journey, developing new flavours and textures as it progressed from fermentation through to bottling and beyond.
Rather than trying to force it into a particular style, I followed its evolution and allowed the wine to find its own character. It has been a lesson in curiosity, patience and adapting to where the wine takes you.
With only 50 bottles produced, this is a small but meaningful part of my journey as a winemaker and the Midnight Sounds story.
Due to minimal intervention, there may be small amounts of tartrate crystals, also known as wine diamonds, once the wine is chilled. These are completely harmless and are a natural occurrence in wine.
